Recovering from Death & Dying
Things are good... and I couldn't wait until Monday. Despite tragic news earlier this week, God still moves things around in life to help me see the positive. Hubby & I got up early (like, 6:30am - and it wasn't even a work day!) to shoot Kara & David's engagement photos. I was especially excited for it because (a) my husband was there with me, (b) we both have new (and majorly upgraded) equipment, and (c) both of us feel so comfortable with both parties, so it made shooting that much easier. Plus, it's nice to see David with his woman! Come back from Tampa, Kara!! After the photo shoot, we ran some errands (Halloween costume in the works), watched the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy, and then drove to Charlotte for my cousin's daughter's 2nd birthday party. It is amazing to me how gorgeous, smart, and fun that little girl is. I only work three more days this week (boo that one of them is a Sunday) and then I will have about six days off, four of those spent camping with some of my closest friends. Ashley is turning 25 very soon, so a nice visit to a Georgia State Park sounded fabulous. The day I was feeling especially bummed, I received this huge package from Germany from my good friend Ketan. He's doing a three month internship there for optometry school, and in just a few weeks he'll be staying with us on his way to Virginia for another internship. We can't wait to see him! And I've eaten almost the entire bag of gummi bears already... Knowing that God made all of this come together in a week where I was feeling especially depressed makes me so thankful that I know Him and have opened my heart to Him. On Friday I got off of work and had a beautiful voicemail waiting for me - just what I needed, parting words - "We lives our lives to glorify God and all of the other stuff that makes us upset or seems so important just really doesn't matter." I cannot tell you how thankful I am for the friends in my life, the way they have changed me for the better, sometimes not even realizing it until five years later. It's time for bed, I have work in the morning, I love you all.

Multitude Monday, Week XII
So I guess this portion of the blog (the only part that I manage to update fairly regularly) should really be called "Multitude Any Day of the Week". (: I just got home from my third night in a row, all vaccinated and ready for bed! This day is always hardest because I don't really know what the appropriate amount of time for sleep is.. I'm trying to stay up until 10:00am so I can make some ferry reservations for the upcoming birthday weekend camping trip in honor of my best friends Kathleen & Ashley, though Ashley will be the only one of the two present (along with other friends). This week has been a rollercoaster.

Boy, You So Smooth!
A few months ago we bought this Soy Powdered Protein stuff from Sam's Club that was vanilla flavored with the intention to make smoothies "all of the time". Basically David made them quite a few times...for himself, and I always politely declined. Last week, for some weird reason, I decided to make one (I think I was craving something sweet), sans and milk or soy products. So I grabbed some of our leftover frozen fruit, a very ripe banana, and some orange juice and went to town. Since then we have had one smoothie a night.. sometimes David politely declines, and I think -- GREAT! MORE FOR ME! These smoothies really are great because they are truly all natural, no preservatives, no added sugar. I already had a smoothie today as an afternoon snack, but after Bible Study I was craving one and came up with the idea to photograph the process, which means David could be involved.
These photographs aren't wonderfully set up with the full shebang lighting like most blogs I follow, but whatevs, I was getting impatient and wanted to make the smoothie! (This is also why my newer recipe updates on Facebook - if you follow - have been mobile uploads instead of nice SLR photographs .. too hungry/impatient to take the time for it all!) Thanks to David for all of the photos, and letting me have my second smoothie of the day! HA!
INGREDIENTS (this time)
(*pls note the special Simply Orange WITH MANGO. Kroger was having a sale, apparently, so David picked it up.. definitely gives a little tang to the smoothie, but I think I prefer my high pulp Simply Orange)
1-2C OJ w/ Mango!
1/2 -12C frozen strawberries
1/2 - 1C frozen blackberries, blueberries, raspberries
1-2 bananas (the riper, the better!)
DUMP IN BLENDER
BLEND
POUR
ENJOY

David finished editing his photos tonight and I wanted to share some of my favorites! I'm such a sucker for candids. (:

Family Portraits, Part I
A few months ago Maggie contacted me on Facebook about doing some portraits of their precious family before and after Baby Gray is born. I of course agreed, and between all of our busy schedules, we finally got to meet a few weeks ago. Maddie has such a loud personality -- I knew it would be a fun day. Unfortunately we weren't experiencing the cooler weather then that we are now, so by the end I think we were all thirsty and tired. David hasn't finished editing his photos yet, but I'm already pretty satisfied with the results. (:
Enjoy!
